Energy Management – Website and Client Portal

Energy Management help businesses manage their energy procurement and efficiency. Based in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, Energy Management approached 4D Digital in late 2017 with a view to redesigning the existing company website, and to develop an online portal for clients to monitor energy use.

The existing website looked reasonably professional and to a degree was serving its purpose. On closer inspection though it had become apparent that it generated only one enquiry per week. Traffic to the website was 80% on desktop, 20% mobile/tablet – an unusual split given that most websites are currently 50/50 with desktop/mobile visits.

After initial discussions it was decided that 4D would redesign the website with a more mobile and tablet-friendly layout, together with a much clearer emphasis on guiding the visitor to get in touch, via email and phone.

Launched in early March 2018 the new website features clear ‘call to action’ buttons for email contact, as well as a cleaner, clearer mobile layout.

Energy Management - Mobile

In the first two months after relaunch, website traffic increased by over 30%, with mobile/tablet visitors and retention up by over 60%. Our enquiries through the website are significantly higher than the comparative period in the previous year.

In addition to the website redesign, Energy Management tasked 4D  with developing an application to enable clients to view their own energy data. Data visualisation and reporting tools were to be built, giving their customers a better insight into where and how energy was being used across the company.

Launched in June 2018, the EM-Powered portal is a completely bespoke development, using three-way data communication to bring together client, supplier and budget figures. Comparisons between the budget and actual data feeds are then presented, in easy to read graphs.

As the saying goes – ‘The cheapest unit of energy is the one you never use”!
